Die Ehre der Pflanzen
Seit zwei Dekaden arbeitet Christl Mudrak im Gebäude von Stroux, begleitet von einer umfangreichen Pflanzensammlung, die sie Kakteenarchiv nennt. Fast allen Pflanzen sind Personen zugeordnet. Ungefähr zweihundert Sukkulenten waren über die Jahre den unterschiedlichsten Bedingungen im Plattenbau ausgesetzt. Manche wurden gestohlen, andere weitergegeben und fanden dadurch andere Lebensorte. Einige wenige Pflanzen überlebten die überhitzen Räume und die trockene Luft des Gebäudes nicht. Mit diesem Projekt bei Stroux sollengenau diese toten und verlorenen Pflanzenwesen mit Hilfe der Ausstellung und den Mitteln der Malerei geehrt werden. Während der Ausstellungszeit vom 24. März bis 30. April wird Christl ihren Arbeitsplatz in die Logen BCD von Stroux verlegen und Interessierte zu Gespräch und Kaffee treffen. Für die Idee von Wertschätzung und Achtung dieser ehemals lebendigen Begleiter sucht sie eine Entsprechung.

Christl Mudraks (*1972, Memmingen, D) künstlerische Arbeit handelt von Räumen, die den Betrachter physisch und psychisch beeinflussen. Es entstehen raumgreifende, zumeist malerische Arbeiten, die die Wahrnehmungskapazitäten des Betrachters testen. Rausch und Überforderung spielen dabei eine wesentliche Rolle, eingeübte Denkmuster zu überkommen und außerhalb der eigenen Komfortzone neue Wege zu beschreiten. Interaktive Prozesse mit Kollaborateuren sowie Passanten als auch gleichwertig mit Tieren und Pflanzen dienen ihr, Autorschaft als verbindendes und kommunikatives Element offenzulegen im tiefen Verständnis, dass eine befriedigende Realitätsschreibung nur kollektiv und artenübergreifend entwickelt werden kann.
The honor of plants
For two decades Christl Mudrak has been working in the Stroux building, accompanied by an extensive collection of plants, which she calls the Cactus Archive. Almost all plants are assigned to people. About two hundred succulents have been exposed to various conditions in the prefabricated building over the years. Some were stolen, others passed on and thus found other places to live. A few plants did not survive the overheated rooms and dry air of the building. This project at Stroux aims to honor precisely these dead and lost plant creatures through the exhibition and the means of painting. During the exhibition period from March 24 to April 30, Christl will move her workspace to Stroux’s BCD boxes and meet interested people for conversation and coffee. For the idea of appreciation and respect for these former living companions she is looking for an equivalent.
Short Bio:
Christl Mudrak’s (*1972, Memmingen, D) artistic work is about spaces that affect the viewer physically and psychologically. She creates expansive, mostly painterly works that test the perceptual capacities of the viewer. Exhilaration and overload play an essential role in overcoming usual thought patterns and breaking new ground outside of one’s comfort zone. Interactive processes with collaborators as well as passers-by and animals and plants equally serve to reveal authorship as a unifying and communicative element in the deep understanding that a satisfying writing of reality can only be developed collectively and across species.
